This 12-week workshop for language learners of all levels offers the chance to learn how to program introductory “visual novel”-style video games using the RenPy programming language. The class will primarily use English for instruction, but students will learn the Japanese needed to write simple dialogue, short character descriptions, and practice reading simple games in Japanese. Students will need access to a device or computer capable of running RenPy (check out the specs on the official website, renpy.org), but the software itself is free.
