Our fall Finnish Virtual Adult Class offers a real-time interactive small group setting for adults looking to develop or strengthen their language skills. The Fall Suomen Mestarit 1 class continues on in the January session. Together, these two classes are Intended for Beginner (A1-A2) and early intermediate language learners. The emphasis of this class is on communication and increasing language proficiency through a variety of speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar activities and lessons, interspersed with songs, games, videos and stories. We will be using the Suomen mestari 1 (uudistettu—revised edition) textbook which students order independently. The Suomen mestari books are a great resource with their dialogs, vocabulary lists, grammar explanations, topical discussions, as well as a wide variety of exercises. Winter is a beautiful time to experience Salolampi! From Friday evening to midday Monday, we have planned a weekend of Finnish crafts, music, outdoor games, interactive language classes for kids and adults, delicious food, and of course sauna. This weekend is perfect for families looking to learn more about Finnish culture, and create lasting memories in a stunning winter setting, complete with Finnish log cabins and a newly renovated grill hut on the trail between the cabins and the lakeshore sauna. Whether you're already familiar with Finnish culture and traditions or just beginning to explore them, there's something for everyone at Salolampi. Tervetuloa! (welcome) You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota winter weather, so warm outdoor clothing is essential. Don’t forget cross-country skis or snowshoes, we have some great trails waiting for you. Family programs are designed for family units that include at least one adult (age 19 or older) and one child (age 18 or younger). Individual adults should register for our Adult Programs instead. Adult programs provide more and more intensive opportunities for language learning geared specifically towards adult learners. Individual adults not attending with minor children may request an exception to this policy, please contact clvregister@cord.edu to start this process. All attendees, regardless of age, need to register individually for the Family Programs. Tuition is as follows: Adult participants: $395 each Youth participants: $215 each Participants ages 3 and under: Free All paying participants must pay a $50 registration fee to save a spot.
