Minimum registration fee $325 Join us for the Writing & Literacy themed two-week credit program this summer. This session will focus on further developing villagers’ writing skills in Japanese, as well as deepen their understanding and knowledge of Japanese literature. We will explore the different writing systems and their history, work on forms of formal writing in Japanese, and plunge the depths of Japanese literature’s thousand-plus year history to learn more about both language and culture. Because this program is writing- and reading-focused, villagers should already at least be able to read and write in hiragana; this session is not designed for true beginners. This session is the equivalent of one semester of high school credit, or one half Carnegie unit.

Villagers at this site can expect smaller cabin groups and smaller language and activity class sizes. Minimum registration fee $275 For those seeking a taste of the voyageur life without the higher intensity, this two-week session offers a rewarding adventure with fewer miles but just as much excitement. Perfect for younger or less experienced campers, you’ll still hone your canoeing and camping skills while studying the history and traditions of the voyageurs. This session emphasizes community building, immersion in nature, and the joy of paddling through beautiful landscapes, all while speaking French. It’s an ideal introduction to the voyageur experience with a manageable physical challenge!

One of Germany’s most time-honored traditions is embarking on an apprenticeship and becoming a Lehrling. In Waldsee's German Apprentice Program*, you'll learn German by working half-time developing a community skill auf deutsch and half-time in regular Waldsee learning groups. Waldsee apprentices live with other Waldsee participants and join in village activities, but also contribute to the Waldsee community and develop a work skill at the same time, learning from master teachers and experts in their field.
